AMERICANS HIT DOUBLE DIGITS, ROLL PAST SLOVAKS

SYLVAN LAKE, Alta. – John Farinacci scored once and added three assists, Josh Groll and Nicholas Robertson had two goals apiece and the United States used a five-goal second period to beat Slovakia 10-4 in pre-Hlinka Gretzky Cup action Saturday.
The Americans racked up 61 shots on goal – 45 in the final 40 minutes – and converted four times on five chances on the power play to earn the convincing victory at the NexSource Centre.
Grant Silianoff, Mike Koster, Tyler Paquette, Arthur Kaliyev and Michael Feenstra had the other goals for the Americans, who got points from 13 different players.
Martin Chromiak scored twice to lead the offence for the Slovaks.
The U.S. opens its Hlinka Gretzky Cup schedule in Red Deer against the Czech Republic on Monday (7 p.m. MT), while the Slovaks get Sweden in their curtain-raiser in Edmonton (3 p.m. MT).
