LACOMBE, Alta. – Seven different players scored goals and 11 recorded at least a point, helping Russia shut out Switzerland 7-0 in pre-Hlinka Gretzky Cup play Saturday afternoon at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex..

Artem Knyazev, Yaroslav Likhachyov, Oleg Zaitsev and Yegor Chinakov finished with a goal and an assist each for the Russians, who had a one-sided 54-20 advantage in shots on goal. Nikita Sedov added a trio of helpers.

Vladimir Sartakov and Yaroslav Askarov shared the shutout for Russia, making 10 saves each.

Thibault Fatton was under siege in the Swiss goal, making 29 saves in just 40 minutes of work. Sascha Ruppelt was solid in his one period of relief, finishing with 18 stops.

The Russians drop the puck on their preliminary-round schedule Monday afternoon in Red Deer, taking on Finland (3 p.m. MT), while Switzerland gets started against Canada in Edmonton (7 p.m. MT).
